August 2nd Playday Results

•August 6, 2008 • No Comments

The August 2nd Playday has come and gone, and things went pretty well! Snickers and I entered two flat classes, and ended up with a 4th and 5th place. We also did two trot pole classes, and won 1st and 2nd, once again! He has gotten so much better. Then I rode Taffy (I have written about Taffy in previous posts), and entered in three jumping classes. The first class we ended up with 6th. Taffy was very fired up, and later I learned that she hadn’t been jumped in a month… The second didn’t go as well, all the jumps were really good, but I forgot the course. The last class went well, and we ended up with 3rd place.

Here are some pictures of Snicky and I: Continue reading ‘August 2nd Playday Results’

•August 2, 2008 • No Comments

Does it like water?
Did it have a bad experience with water, and therefore afraid of it?
These are all things to consider, and so here is a safe and careful way to wash a horse, whether or not it is afraid of water or loves it! Continue reading ‘How to Wash a Horse!’

Bainbridge Classic Results!

•June 11, 2008 • No Comments

Well, it was quite a weekend! Lets see, getting up at 5:30 every morning and going to bed at 10:00 takes a lot of energy! The show started on Friday, but before that, I had to go set up all my stuff at Battle Point on Thursday, and then get on my horse and do some schooling (practice). Since the ground is grass, we have to put these things called caulks in the horses shoes, which are like cleats, except for horses. They give the horse grip when they are galloping around in the wet grass. So the schooling went well, and Mindy was energetic!

•May 12, 2008 • 2 Comments

It should have been a day of celebration, but instead it turned into something completely different. Almost a quarter mile after finishing second in the Derby, Eight Belles suddenly broke down, collapsing and throwing the jockey off, breaking both front ankles. She was euthanized immediately, in front of thousands of fans. Continue reading ‘Tragedy at the Kentucky Derby’
